Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our independence, regulatory standing, fees, and planning methodologies.

1. Regent Wealth & Regulatory Standing

Yes. Regent Wealth Financial Planning provides completely independent, whole-of-market financial advice. Unlike restricted advisers or tied bank representatives who are contractually obligated to recommend proprietary funds or products, we survey the entirety of the UK marketplace to find the best solution for your unique objectives.

Yes. Regent Wealth Financial Planning Limited (Company No. 16376983) is an Appointed Representative of Sense Network Ltd, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA Ref: 1033092). You can verify our regulatory standing directly on the Financial Services Register at register.fca.org.uk.

Sense Network Ltd is one of the UK’s leading networks for independent financial advisory practices. They provide institutional compliance oversight, licensing governance, and technological infrastructure, ensuring our advice meets the highest standards of regulatory diligence.

2. Initial Consultation & Fee Structure

We operate with radical fee transparency. Your initial Discovery Meeting and our subsequent Recommendation Presentation are provided completely free of charge with zero obligation.

If you choose to implement our recommendations, a one-off onboarding fee of 0.50% applies to assets brought under management (excluding non-advised cash). Our ongoing advisory services are structured across two clear tiers: Lite at 0.75% p.a. and Core at 1.00% p.a., both subject to an annual minimum of £1,000.

Our initial meeting is a relaxed, 45-to-60 minute exploratory conversation. We will ask about your family, career, retirement timeline, lifestyle ambitions, and current financial arrangements. It is an opportunity for you to ask questions about our credentials and process, and for both of us to determine if we are the right long-term partners for your journey.

You don't need to bring detailed paperwork to the first meeting. Having a general idea of your approximate income, monthly expenditure, existing pension arrangements, and investment values is helpful. Most importantly, bring your questions and thoughts regarding your desired retirement age and family legacy goals.

3. Business Owners & Corporate Planning

We specialize in integrating commercial profit extraction with personal wealth strategies. By utilizing tax-allowable employer pension contributions, profits can be transferred directly from the company balance sheet into a director's pension without incurring National Insurance or personal Income Tax, while simultaneously reducing the enterprise's Corporation Tax liability. We also advise on Family Investment Companies (FICs) and Business Asset Disposal Relief (BADR) integration.

We arrange Key Person Cover (insuring against financial loss if a pivotal founder or director passes away or suffers critical illness), Shareholder and Partnership Protection (providing liquidity for surviving partners to buy out deceased shares from family estates), and Relevant Life policies (tax-deductible life insurance funded by the business).

4. Pensions & Retirement Planning

Consolidation often provides significant fee reductions, access to modern investment options, and simplified management. However, consolidation must always be preceded by a professional audit of valuable legacy guarantees — such as Guaranteed Annuity Rates (GARs), Protected Pension Ages, or enhanced tax-free cash entitlements — which could be permanently forfeited if transferred carelessly. We carry out this audit before making any transfer recommendation.

Lifestyle financial planning focuses on the human reality of money. Rather than simply selling a product or comparing fund performance, we use sophisticated lifetime cashflow software to model your financial future across multiple scenarios (early retirement, care costs, gifting to children). It answers the most fundamental human question: "How much is enough to live the life I want without fear of running out of money?"
